Meetings held monthly at 'the Spotlight'
(formerly Broxbourne Civic Hall), in High Street, Hoddesdon
COVID 19 Impact
Since the start of "lockdown" during March 2020 the operation of our U3A has been severely impacted.
U3A offers learning and social activities for those not in
full-time gainful employment.
Skills and experiences are shared among the members and it is an
excellent opportunity to meet local people in similar circumstances to
Lea Valley U3A was the first to be set up in this
area, in 1992, and we welcome members from
Broxbourne, Hoddesdon, Nazeing and surrounding areas. In fact,
you are very welcome to join us wherever you live, and whatever your age.
meetings are normally held on the second Monday of the month, at 'the Spotlight' in Hoddesdon (formerly Broxbourne
Civic Hall). However, meetings are currently being held at Stanboroughs, Conduit Lane, near Sainsbury's in Hoddesdon,
as The Spotlight remains closed, probably until March 2022. PLEASE NOTE THAT THE 10TH JANUARY 2022 MEETING WILL NOW BE VIA ZOOM - SEE 'CHAIRMANS CORNER' ARTICLE ON THE 'NEWS' PAGE.

on our News page which you can get to by clicking on the "NEWS" link at
the top of this page in the margin. When meetings are held at The Spotlight, members are invited to arrive from 1.30pm onwards to
visit group tables and have a cup of tea or coffee, and lunch if they
wish, in the Bistro Bar. The speaker will begin at 2pm, the
subject of our talks ranging from “Weird & Wonderful Weddings” to
“Wildlife in Tanzania”, and everything else in between!
Valley U3A has over 50 interest groups including Antiques and
Collectables. Pilates, Keep Fit, French Boules, Exploring London, Reading for
Pleasure, Walking Groups, Craft Groups and Pub Lunches, to name a few.
Click on "GROUPS" in the margin for a full list. There is something on offer for everyone, both ladies and
gentlemen. Depending on the number of members, some groups meet
in small halls around the area, or in private homes.
membership is £15 and forms can be
collected at our meetings. If you wish to
join in the meantime, please contact us by email. Click on the

2022 there is an additional charge of £3.50 if you also wish to receive
the Third Age Trust's Magazine ("Third Age Matters") delivered to your
home five times a year.
if you are a fully paid up member of another U3A, the cost of
membership with us is reduced to £11.50, as £3.50 of the £15 goes
to the Third Age Trust as an administration/affiliation fee, and you
only pay this once, however many branches of the U3A you belong to.

If you want to see what we do, you are
welcome to come along as a visitor and pay just £2, which will be
deducted from your membership fee if you do decide to join.
membership year now runs on
a calendar year basis i.e. from 1st January to 31st December.

have fun !!
