Leader:
Sybil Hammond Chinese Brush Painting is a
very spontaneous art form. Artists try to capture the spirit of the subject matter
without painting every detail. This is achieved with a variety of brush strokes.
As each brush stroke shows on the absorbent paper it is important to load the
brush with the right mixture of ink or colour and be confident with each mark
made. Studying old masters and current artists gives inspiration and
knowledge of how to paint in the free style of Chinese painting. The group works
on the traditional subjects of flower and bird, landscapes, fish, fruit and occasionally
attempting animals and people. The group generally meets once a month
to paint for pleasure.
